Each student is paired with a highly-skilled, qualified clinical mentor at one of the area’s clinical facilities. Students will complete a minimum of 600 contact hours in the operating room, gaining experience for the role of surgical technologist. Generally, clinical assignments are made according to geographical location or by lottery.
Students are responsible for transportation to assigned clinical facility. Student may be expected to travel distances and participate in early morning clinicals. Several area hospitals offer the opportunity for clinical experience: Blessing Hospital, Quincy Medical Group Surgery Center,Quincy; McDonough District Hospital, Macomb; St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg; Hannibal Regional Hospital, MO; Fort Madison Community Hospital, Great River Medical Center, IA.
