"Teaching at John Wood allows me to do two things I love: Be a mom to my three girls and teach! The flexibility of teaching part-time is great. Over the past 10 years, as my family’s needs have changed, so has my teaching schedule."

"Teaching at John Wood Community College is a pleasurable and rewarding experience. The staff is professional and understand their job of helping students learn. The students are motivated and recognize the value of education."
Dr. Ed Esselman

"I recall, as a student, getting excited about what I was learning, especially when it came to psychology. Now, through John Wood Community College, I have the opportunity to be part of creating this for other students. That is a blessing for me and a way I feel I am ‘giving back’ to my community."

Service Through Teaching
Dear Prospective Teacher:
John Wood Community College is searching for master's degreed professionals who are interested in becoming part-time instructors. We need a number of instructors for the upcoming term in a broad array of subject areas, both day and evening hours.
John Wood is renowned for its high-quality programs, outstanding faculty and talented students - all of which make it one of the best community colleges in Illinois. In fact, we have been making a positive impact on our district and in people’s lives since 1975. You can help us continue this tradition.
If you have never taught before you may be asking, "Why teach?" These JWCC instructors can help answer that for you!
Our ideal candidates demonstrate leadership ability, strong critical thinking skills and a record of outstanding achievement in past endeavors, whether in academics, extracurricular activities, or work experience. We’re searching for individuals who reflect thoughtfully on past experiences, maintain a sense of perspective in the face of challenges, operate with a positive attitude and a sense of realism, and demonstrate self-awareness and sensitivity to others. If you possess these characteristics, we hope you’ll want to bring these traits into the classroom.
If you decide teaching is worth exploring, call the JWCC Office of Human Resources at (217) 641-4242 or email us at obrien@jwcc.edu. We look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Stacey O'Brien
