Focused Visit Report on Assessment of Student Learning

Guidelines for Production of Each Subcommittee Report
Each report should
include the follow sections which address specific recommendations from the
Site Visit Report:
1. Purpose: Describe the purpose and goals of the
particular assessment component. Where
does it fit into the assessment plan?
2. Faculty
involvement: Describe the role and level
of faculty involvement.
3. Student
involvement: Describe the role and level
of student involvement.
4. Structure: Describe the committee and/or personnel
responsible for overseeing that the assessment process is carried and completed. Include mention of forms and timetables.
5. Clarity of the
goal: Describe how clear the goals are
and how well measurable outcomes have been defined for the departments
conducting assessments. For General Education Objectives, describe the clarity
of goals of Gen Ed and the transfer departments.
6. Regularity of data
collection: Describe the cycle of
assessment and how many times it has been completed.
7. Completion of the
feedback loop: Describe the feedback
loop, i.e. how the data is returned to the departments. Describe, with
specifics, how assessment data has been used to inform and make changes.
8.
The subcommittees’ critique of the process.
Identify strengths and weakness of the assessment process. Describe what has worked and what hasn’t
worked about the process. (It’s possible
and appropriate that your conclusions or recommendations will lead to changes
in part of the process of assessment of Student Learning at JWCC.)
Remember to have
supporting documentation – evidence to support your report.
