Who are we? The John Wood Community College BACCHUS Chapter is part of the National BACCHUS and Gamma Peer Education Network with college and university affiliates in every state plus Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and Australia. BACCHUS members act as peer educators, leaders, activists and role models. What do we do? The John Wood Community College chapter primarily focuses on changing attitudes while increasing awareness and knowledge about health and wellness issues (HIV, alcohol and drug abuse, impaired driving, and violence). Some of the chapter's focus campaigns include: National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Area Youth Conference, Candlelight Vigil of Remembrance and Hope, Sexual Responsibility, Safe Spring Break, Sober-Fest, and the Stick it to Drugs campaign. BACCHUS members have the opportunity to travel to state, area, and national events, from Springfield and St. Louis to Washington D.C. Members must earn the right to travel through educational and fundraising efforts for the chapter and the college.
