| ACT Workkeys Exam Information for Para-Educators |
The State Board of Education has endorsed four assessment options
for establishing a candidate’s qualifications as a paraprofessional
educator under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). One of
the options includes the ACT WorkKeys test of Applied Mathematics,
Reading for Information and Writing, and the ACT Instructional
Support Inventory with minimum scores as follows:
Applied Mathematics—4
Reading for Information—4
Writing—3
Instruction Support Inventory— 150 (JWCC does not offer this portion
of the WorkKeys exam. You must order the inventory from the ACT
website and have someone at your school administer and complete. For
more information, please visit the
ACT website.)
In order to assist you in filling these requirements, JWCC—being an ACT Certified Center–is able to host the ACT Workkeys exam. The exam is administered and timed by a JWCC official. Once complete, tests are sent to the ACT Center for scoring. JWCC will receive the results of each individual approximately 3 weeks following the exam and you will then receive notice via mail or phone regarding your results. The cost of the entire exam is $60.00. However, if you need to retake a portion of the exam, separate fees are established for each individual section of the exam. You do not need to retake the entire exam; only the portion(s) you did not pass.
If you have questions as to whether or not you need to meet the requirements of the NCLB Act of 2001, please contact your immediate supervisor at your school district. John Wood Community College can only provide a site for the test and is unable to determine your personal status at your school.
