Natalie Powell, a student at Western Jr. High School, displays her entry "Crowded Life" which won Best of Show in the 2009 3rd Annual Recycled Art Contest.
Each year this contest becomes more popular as everyone, artists included, become more aware of the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle philosophy. JWCC wants to encourage the creative spirit while incorporating this philosophy in to the arts as part of our annual Earth Day events.
There is only one rule for the contest: at least 50% of the piece must be made of recycled materials or materials found in nature (i.e. branches, leaves, pine cones, etc.). Artists of all ages are encouraged to participate.
In 2008 winners of the Recycled Art Contest were honored and received their awards at a special Awards Reception as part of our Earth Day event. Cash prizes were awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners as well as one Best of Show winner.
