John Wood Community College provides an email address for students, faculty and staff members. This will allow students and employees the ability to communicate electronically. All students attending JWCC  or employees working at JWCC is provided an email address that they can access using Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Online.

JWCC accounts (Email, Office 365, File storage, etc.) will remain active as long as a student is enrolled at the college. However, due to storage and licensing costs, JWCC accounts will be removed shortly after the student is no longer enrolled or the employee no longer is no longer employed.
  • For brand new students, you should have received a Welcome Letter containing your email address and password.
  • You can also receive your email address during business hours from the Help Desk located on the lower level of the Learning Center (B024). during business hours.
  • You may also call the Help Desk at 217.641.4325.

Using Outlook:

  1. From any JWCC computer, login using your username and password.
  2. Click on Start
  3. Click on Outlook
  4. Outlook 365 will open and you will have access to your JWCC email.

Remember to log off the computer when you are finished!


Using Outlook Online:

  1. From any internet browser, browse to BlazerNet.
  2. Click on “Email” icon under the LaunchPad and login using your email information.
  3. You will be taken to your email account where you can read and compose messages.

Remember to log out and close your browser when you are finished!

It could be a number of different reasons why, but if you are certain you have the correct information, then we would recommend you change your password so that nobody else can use your account.

  1. Bring up the change password page.
  2. Follow directions on page.
  3. Press “Change Password” at the bottom to complete the process to change your password.

Students and Employees at John Wood Community College have a 50GB limit on their mailbox.

This includes, but not limited to the following folders: inbox, sent items, and deleted items.

The best way to clean up your mailbox is to login to any computer on campus and open Outlook. From there, you can easily delete multiple emails. You will also want to empty the deleted items folder every so often. If you need assistance, please stop by the Help Desk.

Using Outlook

  1. Download the Outlook app from the App Store (for iPhone) or Play Store (for Android).
  2. After it’s been installed, open the app. It will say “get started” – tap that.
  3. On the next screen, it will automatically detect any non-JWCC accounts you already have on your phone. If you want, you can coordinate all your emails in the Outlook app. For now, we will focus on only including the JWCC email, so uncheck any accounts you see. You can add other personal accounts later, if you want.
  4. Tap “skip” in the bottom right-hand corner once you’ve unchecked any current accounts your phone may have.
  5. Type in your John Wood account email address. If you’re not sure what your email is, contact the help desk at 217.641.4325 or by visiting room B024 on campus.
  6. The app will redirect you to a sign-in page. Depending on your phone’s screen size, it may be zoomed in, so zoom out if you have difficulty seeing this screen.
  7. Type in your John Wood account password on the right side of the page. If you’re not sure what your password is, contact the help desk at 217.641.4325 or by visiting room B024 on campus, and they can help reset it for you.
  8. Once it accepts your username and password, press “Skip” in the bottom-left, unless you want to set up another email to use with the Outlook app.
  9. You should see your email messages show up in the app!

Note: Email notifications are turned on by default, so even when the app is closed, you’ll still get notifications about emails sent to your John Wood account. If you want to change notification settings or other email settings, please see the official Outlook app support page for more information.

Using Gmail

  1. Download the Gmail app from the App Store (for iPhone) or Play Store (for Android).
  2. After it’s installed, open the app and tap “sign in”.
  3. Under “Set up email”, tap the option that has “Exchange” in it.
  4. Type your John Wood account email address, and tap next. If you’re not sure what your email is, contact the help desk at 217.641.4325 or by visiting room B024 on campus.
  5. Type your John Wood account password. If you’re not sure what your password is, contact the help desk at 217.641.4325 or by visiting room B024 on campus, and they can help reset it for you. Do not change information about the client certificate.
  6. Gmail will take a bit to communicate with John Wood’s email, then it will ask if it’s ok to use a Redirect request that will have “autodiscover” in the link. This is from John Wood, so tap OK.
  7. Do not change any other settings in “Incoming server settings”; these are already set up. Tap next.
  8. If it asks for Remote Security Administration, tap ok, then tap “Activate” in the bottom-right hand corner.
  9. You should see your email messages show up in the app!

Other Email Apps

Generally speaking, the process will vary from app to app.

  1. When you are creating a new account, if it is an option, choose the option with “Exchange” or “Office 365” or “Corporate”.
  2. If this option doesn’t appear and it doesn’t automatically set up your settings, try applying these settings manually:

Domain\Username: your JWCC email
Password: your JWCC password
Client certificate: None

IMAP (incoming)
Server: outlook.office365.com
Port: 993
Security Type: SSL/TLS

IMAP (outgoing)
Server: smtp.office365.com
Port: 587
Security Type: SSL/TLS

We recommend using the Outlook app if you can’t get your John Wood account set up in another email app. You can always contact the help desk if you need assistance setting things up.
