Paraprofessional Testing
The State Board of Education has endorsed four assessment options for establishing a candidate’s qualifications as a paraprofessional educator under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). One of the options includes the ACT WorkKeys test of Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Writing, and the ACT Instructional Support Inventory with minimum scores as follows:
Applied Mathematics - 4; Reading for Information - 4; Writing - 3 (proctored by JWCC); Instructional Support Inventory - 150 (completed by a supervisor or member of personnel)
In order to assist you in filling these requirements, JWCC—being an ACT Certified Center—is offering the following ACT WorkKeys testing dates:
Monday,
January 25, 2010 (4 - 7
PM; registrations and payments due January 8)
Tuesday, March 30, 2010 (4 - 7 PM; registrations and payments due March 12)
Monday, May 24, 2010 (4 - 7 PM; registrations and payments due May 7)
Requirements to hold test: minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 registrants!
Cost for entire exam is $75.00.
Drop/Cancellation Policy
Due to an increase in the
number of last minute cancellations and registered participants failing to show
up for the exam, the following drop/cancellation policy will be enforced.
Participants must register and pay for the WorkKeys exam by the
registration deadline date. No refunds will be issued for any reason after
the deadline date.
All tests will be held at the Quincy campus, 48th and Harrison.

The Secrets to Succeeding in the Workplace (They're Not Really Secrets)
This course is designed to help individuals recognize the important role personal qualities play in the workplace. Successful attitudes, interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, and strong work ethics are qualities today's employers' seek and demand. This class focuses on preparing entry-level workers for success in the workplace with an interactive format that provides students with the framework for successful skill development.
