Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for persons holding Illinois state certificates in food service sanitation. The state now requires these individuals to have five hours of continuing education in order to have their certificates renewed for another five-year period. It is recommended that participants complete this workshop more than 60 days before their current license expires. This course will be offered periodically to meet the needs of local certificate holders.
Participants should bring their current sanitation certificate to the workshop.
About the Instructor
Leah Erke of Quincy is the Restaurant Management Instructor at JWCC. Ms. Erke has more than 20 years of food management experience, including eight years as the Director of Food and Nutrition at Hannibal Regional Hospital, serving over 500 meals per day. She also spent three years as the kitchen supervisor at St. Louis Regional Medical Center and was with the Lodge of the Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks for two years.
Ms. Erke holds a bachelor degree in restaurant
management from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and an associates
degree in dietetics from St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley.
