With the completion of the Paul Heath Community Education and Fine Arts Center, the College now has the space and the resources necessary to develop a comprehensive program in the visual arts.

In addition to standard courses in painting, 2-D design, and drawing,Picture: Erin Siepker (Quincy).  a course in ceramics is also available. Students will learn both hand and wheel techniques as well as clay forms, decorations, glazes, and kiln firing. The art department also offers two semesters of darkroom photography, and a new graphic design program.

Picture: Artwork by Erin Siepker.  Erin’s piece is also used as a background on the JWCC Fine Arts Department brochure. Department facilities include a spacious, north light studio, photography darkroom, graphics lab, and dedicated space for ceramics. The Heath Center also contains several hundred feet of gallery space and lighted display cases for student art exhibits.

Addie Seabarkrob

Addie Seabarkrob, Fine Arts Instructor, has degrees from Doane College and Western Illinois University. Seabarkrob has taught at Quincy University and also at Highland Community College,  where she developed the Graphic Design program.  She has experience in the graphic design, advertising, and publishing fields and served as editor of WomanSpeak magazine.
