From Pat Woodworth, Director of Library Services & Academic Support Center
The John Wood Community College Library uses convocation as an opportunity to welcome faculty back to the campus
in preparation of a new semester. This year, instead of handing each faculty member a packet of information about the
support and services offered by the library, we are placing all of the documents on the library’s website under a
FACULTY button on the menu bar. By clicking the FACULTY button and then clicking on FACULTY RESOURCES, faculty
have access to all the documents they need for general information about the library, new databases, library support
and services as well as forms needed to request the purchase of new materials, how to request information literacy and
library instruction for your students, as well as a new video list for 2007-08.
The Library added several electronic resources: STAT USA, Nursing Resource Center, CREDO Reference and Liebert Publications.
We also continue to support our online refererence service AskAway. The AskAway service provides 24/7 reference service as well
as an e-mail request service. E-books, music cd’s and DVD’s continue to be added. By clicking on WebVoyage from the library’s webpage and then clicking the New Materials button, faculty can see what
has been added in the previous year, previous six months, or previous week. If you or your students need help with any of the
new services let us know and we would be happy to provide instruction on the use of any of the databases and AskAway individually
or as a class. Copyright information is also included. Please contact the Director of Library Services for any copyright
questions you may have.
If you have questions about services, library materials, reserves or other assistance we can provide after viewing the faculty
information on our webpage, let us know. The Library’s purpose and function is to support instruction at John Wood Community College.
We can best do that with the participation of our faculty.
WebVoyage; "New In the Catalog". This feature allows you to
search the catalog for new additions.
