With the completion of the Paul Heath Community Education and Fine Arts Center, the College now has the space and the resources necessary to develop a comprehensive program in the visual arts.
In addition to standard courses in painting, 2-D design, and drawing, a
course in ceramics is also available. Students will learn both hand and wheel techniques
as
well as clay forms, decorations, glazes, and kiln firing. The art department also
offers two semesters of darkroom photography, and a new graphic design program is
scheduled to begin in Fall 2006.
Department facilities include a spacious, north light studio, photography
darkroom, graphics lab, and dedicated space for ceramics. The Heath Center
also contains several hundred feet of gallery space and lighted display
cases for student art exhibits.
