Associate Degree Nursing
Associate in Applied Science
66 Semester Hours
The Associate Degree Nursing program requires two academic years of study. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, the student will be awarded the associate in applied science degree and is eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure as a registered nurse.
The Associate Degree Nursing program is designed to prepare nurses who, as beginning practitioners, are able to give quality nursing care to patients and function as members of nursing and health care teams. Registered nurses are employed in hospitals, nursing homes, physicians' offices, clinics, and community agencies. Employment of registered nurses is expected to continue rising much faster than the average for all occupations, in response to the health needs of a growing and aging population.
The curriculum for nursing is career-oriented and is accredited by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. The applicant must meet the following admission requirements:
Nursing assistants with current state certification and licensed practical nurses may receive articulation credit in the associate degree nursing program provided they meet admission criteria. Articulation credit will be determined on an individual basis.
This program meets the College’s requirement for computer competency.
NOTE: Only students who do not need additional coursework and who take the number of credits or courses as listed each semester can complete the program in the time given. Others will take longer to complete.
