Online learning at John Wood Community College uses the anytime, anywhere power of the Internet to deliver classes where and when it is convenient for you. You don’t have to travel to campus or attend class at a set class time. Your class materials and resources are available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, online courses are structured with assignment deadlines. Instructors usually require regular participation throughout the course. Classes run on the same semester schedule as on-campus classes. John Wood offers online classes to help students who need a flexible schedule to achieve their educational goals.

JWCC provides a wide variety of online courses in consortium with Moberly Area Community College, in Moberly, Missouri. This consortium called TriStateOnline, provides students with access to over one hundred different course offerings. Courses not available through TriStateOnline might still be available to John Wood students through ILCCO, Illinois Community Colleges Online or IVC, Illinois Virtual Campus. ILCCO provides online course sharing among many Illinois community colleges. Students taking a course through ILCCO will still be enrolled as John Wood students and receive billing, financial aid, and transcripts from John Wood. IVC provides listings of online courses offered by institutions across the state of Illinois. Students may enroll in an IVC course from another college and transfer the credit to John Wood.
