FERPA Notice
In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), John Wood Community College protects the privacy of educational records of all students. No personally identifiable information, other than Directory Information as designated in the college catalog, will be disclosed outside the college without prior written consent of the student. Currently enrolled students may request, through the dean of enrollment services, that the college withhold disclosure of any category of information under FERPA. The college does reserve the right to disclose protected educational record information to college officials with legitimate education interests upon approval of the dean of enrollment services.
All students have the right to inspect the information contained in their own educational records and to formally challenge the contents of those records. Copies of the college’s official FERPA policy are available from Enrollment Services. Also, in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, students are advised that the requested disclosure of the social security number as the student identification number is voluntary.
