Student Orientation Schedule
What is Student Orientation?
All new John Wood Community College students are required to attend a student orientation session before they can enroll in credit classes. At orientation new students receive important information about registering for classes and other services available at JWCC. During the same session students also complete the COMPASS reading, writing, and math assessment tests.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost in attending student orientation or in taking the COMPASS test. Your scores from these assessments are a tool to help ensure that you and your counselor choose the classes that are right for your skill levels. A few Limited Enrollment Programs may consider COMPASS scores in admission decisions.
What do I do after my student orientation session?
After you have attended orientation your next step is to meet with a counselor for an advisement appointment. At your advisement appointment you and your counselor will review the results of your COMPASS test, and then work together to set up your class schedule.
NOTE: You are not registered for classes until you have attended student orientation and met with a counselor!
How do I make an appointment?
The time you spend in attending Student Orientation and meeting with a counselor will dramatically improve your chances of success here at John Wood Community College!
