Camp Objectives
The camp is designed to teach basic and advanced skills of basketball according to age and ability. Emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals and advancing each camper at their own pace. Our goal is to make sure the campers leave our camp with something new and, most importantly, that they had fun!! The morning and afternoon sessions will be geared more to the overall game; offensive and defensive skills.
Camp Location
The Camp will take place at the in the new JWCC Student Athletic Center. The facility is air conditioned and has state of the art equipment. It is located at 1301 S 48th Street, Quincy, IL.

Camp Director
Head Coach, Norman Rodriguez completed his nineth season at the helm of the John Wood Community College women’s basketball program. Rodriguez has compiled a 186-97 slate in his nine seasons at John Wood and has collected two CCCI Championships. In the 2006-07 season, Rodriguez directed the Lady Blazers to a 17-13 record and runner-up to the Midwest Athletic Conference Title.
Assistant Directors
Johanna Stephens was assistant coach for the John Wood Women’s basketball program for 3 seasons and was the head coach for the Unity High School’s girls basketball team this past year. Stephens played at John Wood Community College for two years (2000-2002) before transferring and playing at Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.
Kelly Quigle finishes her second season as assistant coach for the John Wood Women’s Basketball Program. Coach Quigle played at John Wood for two years (2000-2002) before transferring and playing at Judson College in Elgin, Illinois.
Both young ladies have a passion for basketball and enjoy sharing that with the youth in the area.
JWCC Players
The Lady Trail Blazers will return 6 players from the 2007-08 squad & 8 incoming players who will also be assisting in the instruction of skills.
