Please contact the following faculty to learn more about this
program:
Carolyn Warren, Early Childhood Education Instructor. 217 641-4507.
If you are interested in becoming an elementary or secondary teacher, contact the Director of the Education Department, Renee Higgins at 641-4930, or Career and Advising Services at 641-4355 to make an appointment with an advisor. Students seeking teacher certification may complete an associate degree at John Wood, then transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor's degree. It is important to work closely with an advisor because transfer requirements vary from one institution to another.
John Wood also works with paraprofessionals (teachers' aides) seeking to complete college credit hours or an associate degree as required by the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) legislation. Contact Janet McGovern at 641-4940 for further information. Information about Work Keys testing may be found at http://www.act.org/workkeys/overview/profcert/faq.html
