Attention: AS and AA students

Over half of John Wood students plan to transfer to four year colleges and universities to complete a bachelor’s degree. You may be among these students who are completing an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree. The AAS (Associate of Applied Science) degree generally does not transfer toward the completion of a bachelor’s degree. If you have questions about the type of degree you are receiving, ask your advisor!

What can I do to make sure my credits will transfer?

Declare a major as soon as possible. Different departments within universities accept only specific classes as equivalents to the courses offered at their campuses to freshmen and sophomores. You want the classes you take at John Wood to be similar/same to those taken by your counterparts at transfer schools.
Determine the schools you are considering for transfer. If you and your advisor know this, you can be better served. To make sure that your credits will transfer to your new school as you move on as a junior, work closely with advisors at John Wood and your transfer school.
