Students are asked to respond to eight questions in Step 3 of the FAFSA form to determine the appropriate filing status for the financial aid application as either a dependent or independent applicant. If a student feels that the outcome of being a dependent student is not fitting for their unique circumstances, then they may request a review of their dependency status. Students will need to complete a Request for Review of Dependency Status as well as provide a letter that details their request and justification for action. Being self-sufficient alone is not adequate justification to make an otherwise dependent student independent. You will need to demonstrate with appropriate documentation that either:
