Academic Support
Several types of free academic support are available to JWCC students. Support Services sponsors study skills workshops each semester to improve general study habits. Open lab support in writing, math, science, and accounting is available on a drop-in basis throughout the week. Individual tutoring, if appropriate, may be arranged in those and other subjects for students who are earning a "D" or "F" or repeating a course. The Supervisor of Academic Support works with each student to assess need and provide appropriate help.
What do we offer?
Learning Styles Workshops - offered every semester 4 weeks on topics such as how to take notes, how to study for a certain class, how to use JWCC Library search engines and how to handle stress.
Walk-in tutor labs in writing, math, science, and accounting. Each semester these hours are posted in the Library, handed out by instructors, included in syllabi, in the student lounge located by Support Services and posted here.
Individual and group tutoring are also available on a case-by-case basis.
We also offer assessments on such things as your learning styles, time management, and study skills.
Who is eligible?
