Medical Benefits

HEALTH INSURANCE

The college’s health insurance is self-funded. The third party administrator for claims is BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois. We offer three dependent options. The first option is faculty member + spouse, the second option is faculty member + children, and the third option is faculty member + family. Our plans include wellness benefits, vision insurance, dental insurance and prescription card. Insurance is effective the first day of the month following the first day of employment.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS (Section 125 Plan)

The college offers two flexible spending account (FSA) options. In an FSA, employees agree to payroll deductions to put pre-tax dollars into an account and then use the funds during the year for reimbursement of certain types of expenses. The first option is for unreimbursed medical expenses, including any insurance deductibles and co- payments; the second option is for dependent care expenses such as daycare or sitter fees. The plan also offers premium re-direction. This means that the JWCC insurance premiums you pay can be deducted from your paycheck prior to taxes.
