Benefits

VACATION

For full-time exempt employees, vacation is granted during the first year is accrued at 5.23 hours per pay period. After the first year, vacation accrues at 7.77 hours per pay period to a maximum total of 280 hours.

For full-time non-exempt employees, vacation is granted based on years of service to a maximum total of 280 hours.

1-4 years: 5.23 hours per pay period

5-9 years: 6.15 hours per pay period

10+ years: 7.77 hours per pay period

SICK LEAVE

Full-time staff members receive 3.69 hours of sick leave per pay period with no maximum accrual.

Each academic year, nine-month bargaining unit members will be granted 10 sick days and twelve-month bargaining unit members will be granted 13 sick days. There is no maximum accrual.

A sick leave bank is available to provide extended sick leave for full-time staff and faculty members who have exhausted their accumulated PTO. Membership is voluntary.

PERSONAL LEAVE

Staff members are granted 24 hours of personal leave per fiscal year on a pro-rated basis. Faculty members are granted 32 hours of personal leave per academic year.

HOLIDAYS

Full time staff and faculty members receive the following paid holidays:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after
  • Winter Break – Approximately Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day

HEALTH INSURANCE

JWCC offers two different health insurance plan options through BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois. This includes a PPO+ Base Plan and an HSA Plan. In addition to employee coverage, there are three dependent options: Employee + spouse, Employee + children, and Employee + family. All plans include wellness benefits, vision, dental, and prescription insurance.

FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS (Section 125 Plan)

The college offers two flexible spending account (FSA) options: unreimbursed medical and dependent care. In an FSA, employees agree to payroll deductions to put pre-tax dollars into an account and then use the funds during the year for reimbursement of certain eligible expenses.

Wellness

WELLNESS

JWCC utilizes a program through BCBS called Well onTarget that allows you to personalize your wellness plan. Some key features include health assessments, educational courses, fitness tracking and programs, the Blue Points rewards program, and more. In addition, JWCC offers a Fitness Center Reimbursement benefit, reimbursements for entry fees into walks or runs supporting area organizations and a $25 reimbursement for the purchase of a fitness tracker.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Employee Assistance Program is with UNUM to provide free assistance on health and wellness topics along with legal and financial services.  This assistance is available by calling 1.800.854.1446 or visiting www.unum.com/lifebalance.

Life & Disability Insurance

LIFE INSURANCE

The college furnishes each full-time employee with coverage of $65,000 at no cost to the employee through UNUM. Employees can enroll in additional voluntary life insurance. Short-Term Disability Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance are also provided at no cost.

Tuition Reimbursement and Waivers

TUITION WAIVERS

Full-time staff and faculty members are eligible for up to 7 credit hours of paid tuition and fees per academic semester of JWCC credit courses. Each spouse is eligible for tuition (not to include fees) paid for up to 15 credit hours per semester. Each dependent child is eligible for tuition (not to include fees) paid for up to 18 credit hours per semester. Options are available for dependents of associate faculty members that qualify.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

Full-time staff and faculty members are eligible for a maximum of up to $200 per credit hour for up to 9 credit hours per fiscal year for advanced or continuing education for at accredited institutions of higher education.

Retirement

RETIREMENT PLAN

Faculty and staff members are mandated by state law to contribute into the State Universities Retirement System (SURS). Additional payroll deducted 403b retirement plans are available through numerous vendors.
