Accounting is a diverse field of study that offers a wide range of employment opportunities. John Wood Community College offers a four semester Accounting Certificate designed to prepare students to work in clerical accounting and bookkeeping positions.
Career opportunities typically include accounting clerks, bookkeeping, brokerage clerks, payroll and timekeeping clerks and billing and posting clerks in both public and private accounting settings. The average yearly wages of all bookkeeping, accounting and auditing clerks were $33,800 in May 2008.*
