John Wood Community College offers a two-year associate in applied science degree (AAS) and a transfer degree (AS) in law enforcement. Law enforcement students prepare for positions as police officers, corrections officers, sheriff’s deputies and private security officers. With additional training and experience, graduates’ careers can progress at the state and federal levels.

Police CarThe transfer degree in law enforcement is designed to prepare students who are planning or may choose later to attend a four year institution and obtain a bachelor’s degree. JWCC has agreement with several colleges and universities to make a seamless transfer. All JWCC core law enforcement courses transfer.

The non-transfer AAS degree is intended to prepare students for immediate entry-level employment in the field of law enforcement. The program is also suitable for adults currently working in the field of law enforcement who are seeking additional education to further their careers. For more information on the AAS degree in law enforcement, students should contact a JWCC advisor.
