Local Food Programs
JWCC believes local food production, processing, distribution, and marketing will play an important economic and community development role within Western Illinois.
In support of this rapidly growing industry JWCC offers many for-credit courses in the College's Sustainable Local Foods Farming Certificate, a financial aid and WIA eligible 30 credit hour program. This program equips new farmers with the business and production skills needed to succeed in the Illinois local food industry.
JWCC also supports experienced farmers with in depth continuing education workshops addressing leading edge production practices as well as business and marketing strategies.
Finally, JWCC supports families and homeowners who seek a greener & healthier lifestyle through a wide range of community education classes addressing topics from cooking with local ingredients, to raised bed gardening, to Western Illinois farm & wine tours.
