About the Program
JWCC offers both a certificate and an Associate in Applied Science Degree.
The 49 credit hour certificate program is three consecutive semesters in length and includes classroom, lab and clinical education.
First semester courses cover the basic knowledge and skills necessary to prepare the student to function in the clinical area. Second and third semester courses emphasize surgical procedures and clinical experiences relating to the various surgeries.
Students are required to sit for the National Certification Exam (CST) upon completion of the certificate program.
The 64 credit hour AAS degree builds on the certificate courses to provide additional knowledge and a broader perspective of the role of the Surgical Technologist in healthcare today.
