Course:  Positive Communication

  • identify how to act in a given situation

Description

Hands-on math activities and games will help students practice and improve math skills. Topics include basic math, problem solving, practical daily math, and money.  Students will:

Course:  Dance

Objectives:   Students will explore dance steps for 3-4 dance genres.  Students will:

  • show understanding of dance vocabulary
  • count music
  • identify and keep tempo to different styles of dance
  • perform a choreographed routine in each genre

Students will need to wear comfortable clothing and jazz shoes for class.

 

 

Course:  Theatre

Course:  Beginner Chess

Objectives:  The classic game of chess improves focus, reasoning, and creative thinking skills. The game can be complex, but this course is for beginners. This course will build a basic understanding of the game.

Students will:

  • stay focused under pressure
  • identify the chess pieces
  • name, match, or show the basic chess moves
  • predict the consequences of a move

 

 

Course: Video Storytelling

Description:  Students will:

  • learn the basics of visual storytelling
  • take part in producing videos, from start to finish (focus will be on the discipline of preparation, execution and creativity)
  • produce several short promotional videos for use by JWCC
  • hear from guest speakers who have expertise in related topics.
