Informational meetings March 4, 2014; at 10:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at JWCC 1301 South 48th Street
Individuals interested in manufacturing careers but lack the skills for advertised job postings may be able to qualify for funding to pay for training at John Wood Community College. The College will host two informational meetings on March 4 at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to provide application assistance and information on the training programs that are available.
The funding will be provided through the Accelerated Training for Illinois Manufacturing Program (ATIM). Those who qualify can receive short-term training at JWCC for jobs currently available with area manufacturers as certified production technicians, machine operators, welders and industrial maintenance technicians.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to begin a career that pays a head-of-household wage with benefits,” Pam Foust, JWCC dean of career and technology said. “Our region’s employers are clamoring for people with the exact skills this program provides. With additional training beyond this short-term offering, students may quickly move up the ladder with many companies.”
The meetings will provide information about how to apply for funding, course information and other details. Attendees should bring their social security number, have a valid email address, know your 2013 income before taxes, employment history or resume’ and Illinois WorkNet account login information if already an Illinois WorkNet user.
