John Wood Community College Children’s College booklets will be delivered to area schools April 12 and 13. Registration for classes is currently in progress.
JWCC Children’s College first session begins June 4. Students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade can choose from 85 classes taught by area teachers, professionals and local business owners.
Classes are Monday through Thursday. Students can pick from over 55 new classes including Harry Potter Defense Against the Dark, Arts and Crafts, Cupcake Creations, Rising Stars Tennis, No Sew Sewing, Clay Play and much more. The first session will be June 4 to June 7, second session will be June 11 to June 14, third session will be June 18 to June 21, and the fourth session will be from June 25 to June 28.
Classes range in price from $55 to $175 including supplies. Need-based scholarship applications will be accepted starting April 16 and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Additional optional costs include breakfast and morning care, lunch, and aftercare. A full-meal option is available for a discount which includes breakfast, lunch and aftercare. Children may also bring their own lunch.
Children’s College is a hands-on educational enrichment program. The courses provide children with unique and enjoyable educational activities in computers, science, arts, athletics, cooking and more. The Community Education department at JWCC has been providing children college classes for 18 years. Children’s College provides a fun learning atmosphere where children learn new skills, meet new friends, create hobbies and possibly explore different careers.
