JWCC Launches New Four-Week Winter Session

Classes open to all students, transferable to colleges and universities nationwide

Quincy, Illinois - Winter break – it’s not just for Netflix and non-stop holiday gatherings anymore. College students anywhere now have the option to do something more productive this year – like completing one or more courses during the month-long winter break between semesters.

John Wood Community College will launch a Winter Course session this year, offered entirely online for four weeks from December 18 to January 12. Courses range from one to three credit hours and students from any college or university may enroll.  High school students may also take the courses if approved by their school’s guidance counselor.

“The extended break can be extremely productive for students from any college or university, or even high school students who want to jumpstart their degree,” Cody Baggett, dean of student services shared. “Four-weeks is an accelerated timeframe, but for the right students, it can be a great way to knockout a general education class at a much lower tuition rate to transfer back to their home institution.”

Non-JWCC students who complete a winter course can request a transcript to be sent to their home institution to transfer credit earned.

Classes offered include Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Manufacturing Safety, American Government, Coaching as a Profession, Health, Human Relations in the Workplace and Career Management.
