Apply for a Loan

Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours before a loan may be processed! 

You will receive confirmation messages at the end of each step to ensure they have been properly submitted. JWCC will be notified once the step(s) are completed.  The last 2 steps are located at the same website (studentaid.gov).  You’ll need your FSA ID in order to log in.

  1. Loan Request Application  This step is required for ALL JWCC loan borrowers.  This application is used to figure out how much your loan will be and the semester(s) you wish to take out a loan.
  2. Entrance Counseling at the studentaid.gov website. This step is required for all NEW loan borrowersIf you’ve had a student loan processed at JWCC or another institution in the past, you may skip this step.
  3. Master Promissory Note (subsidized/unsubsidized loans) at the studentaid.gov website.  This step is required for all NEW Direct Loan borrowers.  If you’ve had a Direct Loan disbursed at JWCC or another institution, you may skip this step.  To double-check, you can sign into your account at studentaid.gov to confirm an active Direct Loan MPN is on file.

(Loans for the biological, step or adoptive parents of students attending JWCC)

Follow the two simple steps below to apply for a Parent PLUS Loan.  Both steps must be completed before a PLUS Loan will be processed for you.  JWCC will be notified once you have successfully submitted both steps.

  1. Parent PLUS Loan Request Application  Use this form to indicate how much and for what period (semester or year) you are requesting a loan for.
  2. Master Promissory Note (Parent PLUS  at the studentaid.gov website.  You will e-sign this MPN electronically using your (Parent) FSA ID.  If you do not know or have an FSA ID, please create one first.
    -Once logged into studentaid.gov, hover over “Complete Aid Processes”
    -Select “Complete a Master Promissory Note”
    -Select “Start” button to the right of “PLUS MPN for Parents” to begin
