Title:               Sales Development Specialist

Location:        Timewell, IL

Reports To:    Inside Sales Coordinator

Department:  Sales Development

 

Job Summary:

Sales Development Specialists provide sales leads to outside sales reps & customers by searching for, developing, and tracking sales opportunities.

They work with customers to find answers, create solutions and ensure a smooth sales process. Specialists work to find new sales leads, through business directories, client referrals, etc. This position generates revenue by soliciting and obtaining orders; understanding and interpreting technical requirements; providing technical information and developing accounts.  Sales Development Specialists are friendly, well-spoken and ready to close the deal.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Use online tools and other services to seek out project leads and sales opportunities.
  • Receives requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from outside reps and customers.  Works with customer service to make sure orders or changes are processed.
  • Achieve and maintain rapport with customers and work to give them the best possible service.
  • Acquires project plans for material take-offs for the quoting process.
  • Creates quotations immediately on standard items.  Prepares quote forms for outside sales reps to apply pricing when necessary.
  • Provides submittals, certifications, drawings and other product literature when requested.
  • Uses Microsoft Great Plains to retrieve customer information, stock status information, product codes, and to check the status of sales orders and purchase orders.
  • Maintains an internal sales support system for outside sales representatives.
  • Works closely with customer service and internal personnel regarding deliveries of scheduled shipments.
  • Checks with credit department concerning credit status of customer when necessary.
  • Contacts vendors and/or checks internal statuses of orders to make sure customer’s delivery requirements are met.  Relays this information to outsides sales reps and/or customers.
  • Maintains files of quotes and project leads.

 

Occasional Duties:

 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Performs semi-routine duties where some judgment is required when communicating with customers, sales representatives, and inter-company personnel.
  • Communicate with logistics to ensure customer needs are being met.
  • May travel periodically.

 

Preferred but not required skills:

 

  • Experience in Operating Autocad
  • Experience in Blueprint Reading
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in Microsoft Great Plains
