This is a part-time stipend position that reports to the Director of Athletics. This position is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois and requires travel. The one-year, renewable position begins as hired.

John Wood Community College is home to seven intercollegiate athletic programs, three men’s and four women’s teams that compete in Region 24 of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC). Esports, managed by NJCAAE, is a new offering beginning in Fall 2020. The co-ed program will offer gaming options through the National Junior College Athletic Association. Since the inaugural season in the fall of 1992, the Athletic Department has produced several athletic and athletic All-Americans, trips to national tournaments, and numerous scholarships for our student-athletes to four-year colleges/universities. Our programs take pride in our commitment to academics while producing quality people that succeed in all areas of life.

John Wood Community College is seeking applicants for the position of Head Esports Coach to launch and oversee JWCC’s new Esports team. The head coach will be responsible for establishing, recruiting and retaining students to meet roster numbers. Key coaching responsibilities include recruiting, budgeting, fundraising, community engagement, scheduling, promoting, skill instruction, academic support, compliance, and game plan preparation and strategy. The ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, organized, and able to connect with a diverse group of gaming student athletes.

Bachelor’s degree with previous coaching experience and versatile gaming experience preferred.
