This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure track, bargaining unit position that reports to the Dean of Arts & Sciences, and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois.  Position begins August 2020.

This position is responsible for teaching 15 credit hours per semester, which may include classes during day or evening. Classes may be in a structured setting at any JWCC center or online. Courses will include Early Childhood Education Associate in Applied Sciences courses (e.g., child development, infants and toddlers,) and possibly transfer education classes for teacher preparation (e.g. Foundations of Education).

Master’s degree in early childhood education or a master’s degree with at least eighteen graduate hours in early childhood education or related field is required. Preference will be given to degrees in Early Childhood and Child Development.  Minimum of two years’ experience teaching (or serving as a Director) of young children in a daycare setting required. The successful candidate must be fully credentialed to teach per Higher Learning Commission and Illinois Community College Board upon hire. In-depth knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices as defined by NAEYC and Gateways to Opportunity required. Community college teaching experience preferred.
