Job Description

This is a full-time, twelve-month staff position that reports to the Vice President of Instruction and is located on the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois.  Position begins July 2021.


This position provides vision, leadership, and direction for the Allied Health and Emergency Services programs which include: Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Licensed Practical Nursing, Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assisting, Surgical Technology, Emergency Services, Law Enforcement and Fire Science. The Director is responsible for guiding and managing regulatory and accreditation outcomes, and requirements of the programs in collaboration with faculty and coordinators.



  • Provides leadership and effective support for faculty-led assessment and enhancement of student learning.
  • Supports faculty and coordinators in conducting and writing program and accreditation reviews and finalizes the reports for departmental programs.
  • Represents the College and establishes relationships with appropriate local, regional, state, and national organizations.
  • Supervises assigned faculty and program coordinators.
  • Participation in scholarship activities including committee membership, curriculum review, systematic planning for program evaluation required by the Accreditation Commission for in Education Nursing (ACEN) and the Illinois Board of Nursing.
  • Teaches in the ADN program up to 8 credit hours per semester.



Requires a Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN); excellent leadership, time management, communication, and collaboration skills; two years of clinical nursing experience; and two years of nursing teaching experience. The Director must be licensed to practice nursing in Illinois or obtain an Illinois license prior to the start of the Fall 2021 semester. Experience in curriculum development, demonstrated knowledge and experience in the assessment of student learning, instructional technology, scheduling and budgeting, and faculty development preferred.
