Job Description

This is a part time Substitute Instructor position in the College for Life Department in Quincy, IL.  This position reports to the College for Life Coordinator. Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30-3:30 when classes are in session. This position will be a long term substitute for the Fall 2021 semester, and as needed moving forward. 



The purpose of the position is to design and instruct CFL courses, support students and families, and assist in program development. Job responsibilities include:

  • Design curriculum aligned with CFL program goals
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Implement CFL principles, processes, and policies as directed
  • Maintain a positive academic environment
  • Maintain accurate records regarding students
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding educational information and records
  • Encourage appropriate college behavior
  • Foster student independence and social engagement on campus
  • Work as a member of the team
  • Willing to obtain added training
  • Coverage of other Learning Coaches or Instructors in the event of an absence
  • Uphold College for Life Principles in all interactions
  • Assist with student and family support
  • Assist with program development and administration as directed
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned



Qualification include effectively teach diverse learners on a variety of topics; develop curriculum and lesson plans according to program guidelines; submit required reports and documents in timely manner; facilitate students’ social growth and soft skills development; willing to implement and learn a variety of teaching strategies; establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians; excellent communication and organizational skills; commitment to inclusion and respect for students with disabilities; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships; ability to work with college students in a fast-paced environment; flexibility and ability to multi-task; proficient with Canvas, MS Office and other technology relevant for students; and ability to learn assistive technology and support its use by students.
