Job Description

This is a part-time, 12-month, non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Advising and Retention and is located at the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois.  Position begins immediately.

This position is responsible for working with a variety of student populations to provide academic advice and guidance to students regarding the pursuit of their educational goals.  Responsibilities include working with students to create an academic plan that best fits his or her educational goals; providing advice regarding college policies, procedures, and resources; working with the student module of the Banner database; and performing various other duties in our pursuit of the retention of students. The Academic Advisor must maintain a high level of knowledge of transfer school programs and curriculum, plus all degrees, certificates, and specialty programs offered by the college.


Part-time positions are flexible depending on the needs of the college and may work up to 28 hours per week. Primary hours would be during normal business hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-12pm.



An associate degree and 2-4 years of related experience is preferred.  Must have strong skills with Microsoft Office and be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.



Salary range begins at $16.00 per hour.
