Job Description: Dock Supervisor

Report to:  Director of Food Services

Status:  Part-time hourly position 

3-5 hours a day, Monday – Friday

General Description and Position Summary

A member of the Horizons Team, the Dock Supervisor oversees the overall operations for the dock. Their goal is to ensure the dock runs smoothly and complies with safety regulations. In addition to being an excellent communicator, they should also demonstrate outstanding leadership and organizational abilities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Organize, weigh and distribute incoming donations. (with Kitchen First, Pantry Second, Give away table third mindset)
  • Supervise, train, and monitor dock volunteers.
  • Greet each donor with enthusiasm and grace. Treating every donation like it is the most important donation.
  • Ensure that we meet local, state and federal requirements for food handling and pantry inspection, maintaining and exceeding high standards of cleanliness and quality control.
  • Communicate staffing and volunteer needs with Director of Operations.
  • Ensure kitchen pantry and walk in coolers are clean and organized
  • Store all food products in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in some janitorial duties
  • Must be able to respond to unforeseen needs and unexpected emergencies with grace.
  • Assist in advancing the ministry vision for Horizons in cooperation with the Executive Director.
  • Character – being one that has a solid relationship with Christ and living out Christian values.
  • Competency – being able to carry out the described list and have a natural bent toward
    attention to detail and follow through until a job is complete.
