The Production Supervisor works to ensure that manufacturing production requirements are achieved, while upholding superior safety and quality standards, ensuring cost metrics are met. The Production Supervisor makes certain that shop rules and the union contract are fully enforced.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for up 100 hourly employees across multiple departments.
  • Be a visible presence on the shop floor. Monitor and maintain productivity and safety of all employees and provide guidance for a safe and productive work environment.
  • Hands on daily management of production to meet department and company objectives. Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure weekly production is well planned and achievable. Standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
  • Monitor and support intra-plant production and deliveries.
  • Track delivery issues in departments and implement corrective actions.
  • Track quality issues in departments and implement corrective actions.
  • Fully enforce the shop rules and abide by the union contract.
  • Support engineering projects, new product development and introductions
  • Establish safety rules and PPE requirements per department. Monitor and maintain safety of all employees and provide guidance for a safe and productive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree required or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment (metal fabrication / assembly). Union experience a plus.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work in fast paced environment, multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean Six Sigma preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of manufacturing safety requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to manage 8-10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with some weekend schedules required.
  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing

Special Physical Demands:

  • Can lift at least 50 pounds. Requires occasional moving of materials and equipment.
