Job Description

We are looking for an organized individual to help document a site specific program to ensure both fleet and driver compliance for a small commercial trucking operation.

Focal points would include developing an understanding of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules and application to our trucks, trailers and drivers.  Ensure that our business is aligned with U.S. Department of Transportation requirements.  Develop and maintain documentation for  pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles.  Ensure State of Illinois compliance including licensing, registration and vehicle decal display.  Manage IFTA reporting.  Develop a preventive maintenance program.  Document road incidents and proper reporting.

This transportation coordinator position will ensure that our goods are delivered on time and undamaged to our customers by building and maintaining a compliant and robust transportation program.

  • be a self starter
  • open to researching and self learning, especially implementing compliance standards and preventive maintenance
  • strong communication skills with various role players internally and externally
  • be the “Owner” of our small fleet (3 trucks, 6 trailers, 3 drivers)

This is a paid position. Our ideal person would be a current college or tradeschool candidate intending to develop a career in the transportation,  logistics, and/or commercial warehouse fields.  A small company, with an opportunity to jump all in to lead our fleet.  We are flexible and will consider the position as full time, part time, on site or partial work from home.  The position should be considered temporary of 3-6 month duration, but could easily work into a permanent position based on performance.
