Two JWCC Staff Members Attend Conferences

John Wood Community College staff members, Barb Lieber, director of learning resources center, recently attended Network Days hosted by the foundation Center of New York and Illinois Central College Forward Focus Conference.  Erin Ealy, manager of library services, also attended the Illinois Central College Forward Focus Conference.

Network Days was a two-day virtual conference focusing on “Community, Connections, Collaboration.” Participants immersed themselves in the ideas, knowledge and resources needed to help nonprofits succeed in their communities.  The sessions were led by outside experts in the field and Foundation Center staff.

The Foundation Center maintains a comprehensive grant database and operates research, education and training programs to advance philanthropy at all levels.  The JWCC library is a member of the Funding Information Network of the Foundation Center and houses the West Central Illinois Philanthropy Center.  The library works closely with the Center for Effective Non-Profits, to meet the information needs of nonprofit organizations located in West Central Illinois.

Lieber and Ealy also attended the Forward Focus conference hosted by Illinois Central College.  This year’s theme “Living on the Edge” focused on community colleges taking risks.  The one-day conference provided librarians an opportunity see current projects, pilot projects and out-of-the box ideas focused on student success.
