JWCC and Community Health Care Agencies Teaming Up to Honor CNAs
John Wood Community College’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and Community Health Care Agencies are teaming up to support CNA’s. JWCC and Community Health Care Agencies are selling “Angels of Healthcare” for $1 each. Buyers can have their name or a loved one’s name placed on the angel. The angels will be on display in the front lobby of the JWCC campus in Quincy through the end of April. Proceeds of the angel sales will help offset the cost of the 19th Annual CNA of the Year Luncheon set for April 25 at the Quincy Senior Center.
“CNAs provide personal assistance with a wide range of daily activities and meet the physical, emotional and social needs of those whom they care for every day,” said Janet Stuckman, JWCC CNA professor. “The recognition was established to honor the dedication of local CNAs, who provide direct care to loved ones throughout the area. As frontline caregivers, CNAs develop relationships with those in their care and gain deep satisfaction in knowing they make a difference in someone’s life.”
“Employment opportunities for CNAs are excellent throughout the region,” Stuckman said. “Earning a CNA certificate and becoming a part of the rapidly growing health care industry can take between eight to ten weeks. Classes are available in both daytime and evening sessions.
