JWCC Students to Host Canstock Concerts March 20 & 21
John Wood Community College students will host “Canstock 2018” on Tuesday, March 20, and Wednesday, March 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at On the Rail, 129 South 4th Street in Quincy. Akoustic Mayhem will perform on March 20 and Kayla Obert will entertain on March 21.
Admittance to both events is five non-perishable items, which will help stock JWCC’s food pantry for students in need. Raffle tickets will be given for each item donated. On the Rail will also take donations at any time during these two days.
Following the concert, a raffle for gift certificates to local establishments will be held. Canstock t-shirts are also available for sale, with proceeds used to purchase additional non-perishable items. For more information contact Danelle at 217-641-4279 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The event is sponsored by students of Danelle Batterton, JWCC psychology and sociology instructor, and JWCC’s Cultural Diversity Club.
During the spring and fall semesters Batterton’s students host a variety of events to help stock local food pantries. Some events have included “Pack the Pumpkin”, a movie night and game night. Each event provides the community a way to donate non-perishable food items.
