JWCC College for Life to Present Free Community Seminar on Person-Centered Planning

John Wood Community College’s College for Life will present a free community seminar on Tuesday, October 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the private dining room on the Quincy campus, located at 1301 South 48thStreet. The public is invited to attend. The private dining room is located in room C024, in the lower level of the administrative building behind the cafeteria.

Guest speaker Vicki Niswinder will talk about person-centered planning and the importance of a personal network. She has experience assisting individuals with developmental disabilities across Illinois, providing them with strategies to harness the power of their personal networks to achieve a higher quality of life. Niswinder’s adult daughter lives in her own home, has a competitive wage job, and has an active life in her community—and she lives with Down syndrome.

JWCC’s College for Life program offers students with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to go to college and enroll in non-credit courses.
