John Wood Ag Alumni Hosting an Ag Sciences Open House February 18

Drawing for Three JWCC Scholarships to Take Place at the Event

John Wood Community College's Agriculture Alumni Association will host an Open House Monday evening, February 18, at the JWCC Agricultural Education Center near Baylis.  All area high school students, especially juniors and seniors interested in careers in agriculture, are invited. Parents, high school agriculture teachers and counselors also are encouraged to attend. 

The program will be held at the JWCC Agricultural Education Center on State Hwy 104, four miles west of the 104 and 107 junction near Baylis.  Tours of the JWCC Agricultural Education Center and the adjacent University of Illinois Crop Sciences and Beef Research farms will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m.  Registration is at 6:00 p.m. followed by a meal.  Drawings will be held for three scholarships towards enrollment in a JWCC agricultural program. A scholarship for $750 will be given to one male high school senior, $750 scholarship to one female high school senior, and a $500 scholarship to anyone at any grade level. Students must be present to win.

JWCC Ag Alumni Association will host the event.  JWCC faculty will provide an overview of the college’s agriculture programs and career opportunities, as well as specific details on the individual programs available.  JWCC admissions and academic advising staff will discuss the application process, financial aid and student support services.  Current students and recent JWCC agriculture graduates will lead a panel discussion focusing on their experiences at JWCC and their chosen careers.
