Richmiller Receives 2019 Governors Volunteer Award
Adams County RSVP volunteer Barb Richmiller of Quincy has been selected to receive the West Central Illinois Senior Corps Volunteer of the Year award. The award will be presented on April 9 during the 2019 Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards ceremony at the Old Capitol in Springfield. The event is sponsored by Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, which recognize the work of volunteers across the state.
Richmiller has been an Adams County RSVP member since 2010, and serves as chairperson of the RSVP Advisory Board. She volunteers as a University of Illinois Extension master gardener, ICU/surgical hostess at Blessing Hospital, and Red Cross volunteer with their “12 Hours of Giving” program and disaster team. Richmiller also serves breakfast for Honor Flight veterans and volunteers regularly with programs that support students at John Wood Community College.
“RSVP volunteers save communities dollars in the seven figures,” said Richmiller. “Volunteers live healthier and longer. We need physical and social activity that keeps the mind engaged.”
