Student Spotlight - Kayla Mellon '19
After starting out at Illinois College, Kayla Mellon ’19 of Payson transferred to JWCC.
“I already had credits at John Wood from high school,” Kayla said. “They (John Wood) took care of me right away; their quick enrollment process and class scheduling made the transition so much better.”
During her sophomore year, Kayla played on the women’s volleyball team and cheered on the Trail Blazing Cheer Squad. She is currently pursuing a degree in computer science.
“There are a lot of options when it comes to computer science. And although my dad has a company involving my major, I want to explore to see if that’s the path I want to pursue,” Kayla said. “I want to find a job that will not only support me financially but challenge me every day as well.”
This fall, Kayla will transfer to Quincy University and cheer on the Quincy University Cheerleading squad and receive a transfer scholarship.
