JWCC Offering Online Lean Six Sigma Training Program

John Wood Community College is offering an online Lean Six Sigma Training Program. The self-paced, six-month advanced training program is completely online and can be started at any time.

The interactive course will provide an overview of Lean Six Sigma, which is a defined approach to improving and streamlining any product, process or service.  The data-driven approach finds causes of problems and identifies “wastes” of time and resources in manufacturing, financial and service-based processes.

Lean Six Sigma courses are built on decades of success helping people from Fortune 500 companies to small-and-medium sized businesses.  The experience will help students begin to create more satisfied customers, reduce costs, improve collaboration and increase revenue.

The program is recommended to be completed in conjunction with work at the student’s current place of employment because Lean Six Sigma process improvement projects require significant real-time data  based on an actual business. Project examples include reducing manufacturing product defects on a manufacturing floor, reducing recruitment cycle time within human resources departments and reducing accounts payable processing costs.

Students will be paired with a current Six Sigma Black Belt coach to help ensure the project is completed properly and efficiently.  Upon completion of this program, students will be prepared for the Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belt Certification exams.  The registration fee for this exam is included with the program.

Jim Fuhrman, process engineer at Richards Electric Motor Co. in Quincy, recently completed his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and recommends lean training to anyone in any industry.

“Lean helps open your mind to all kinds of wasted time,” Fuhrman shared.  “The training helps identify waste in processes and really change the mindset of how any one approaches work.  It is well worth the time and effort.”

Additional Six Sigma and Lean Training is also available online and on demand by JWCC.
