Educational Talent Search

WHAT IS EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH?

Educational Talent Search (ETS), one of the Federal Trio Programs, is designed to help and encourage individuals to (1) complete their high school education, and (2) pursue further education or training. This training may include vocational, trade schools, business schools, two or four-year colleges, and universities.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

ETS Advisors target youth in grades sixth to twelfth (6-12) at various participating schools, who reside in the JWCC district. Educational Talent Search also serves dropouts by assisting them in reentering the educational system.

Parents of the students must be a US Citizen, income must meet Federal guidelines, and/or neither parent has received a bachelor's degree.

Elegible students must have a C or above average in all school subjects and have an interest in Post-Secondary education.

  • College Information (College and vacational catalogs and information)
  • College Application (Enterence requirements and application process)
  • Educational and Cultural activities

HOW ARE PARTICIPANTS CHOSEN?

Students may enter the program in two ways: (1) advisors go into classrooms and explain the program to students; (2) referrals are received from school counselors, teachers, principals, current participants, parents, relatives, community agency personnel, or just by word of mouth.
